Welcome to our Year 4 class pages!

The Year 4 team:

4AW: Mrs Woodhead and Mrs Anderson

4DO: Miss Davey-Over

Learning Assistants:  Miss Johnson and Mrs Paish (formerly Mrs Culbert)

Mrs Woodhead has taught at Thomas Jolyffe for around 20 years in  both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.  She is responsible for the RE curriculum in the school. Mrs Woodhead has 3 children of her own and a big, bouncy labradoodle called Bella.

Mrs Anderson has taught in Key Stage 2 at Thomas Jolyffe for around 17 years. She is responsible for the French curriculum across Key Stage 2.  Mrs Anderson keeps chickens, who no longer lay eggs and has an adorable cockapoo puppy called Charlie.

Miss Davey-Over has been teaching for two years. She graduated from the University of Worcester in Drama and performance before doing her PGCE and loves all things creative.

Mrs Paish (previously known as Mrs Culbert) is an experienced learning assistant who has a passion for running!  Feel free to challenge her to a race if you see her out and about; although don't expect to win!

We are really looking forward to getting to know your children this year!  This term we will be focusing on the IPC topics "Brainwaves" and "Temples, Tombs and Treasures".

Homework will be set on Wednesdays to be completed by the following Wednesday, with spelling and times tables activities to be completed throughout the week.

Reading should be ongoing throughout the week. Children need to bring their reading record and reading book into school and aim to have their reading record signed at least 3 times a week.  Children can quiz at school or home using the link below.

Email Communication Statement

As we are able to conduct face-to-face contact this year, this is the preferred method of communication between teachers and guardians. Please feel free to arrange a meeting with us to discuss any concerns. We are also out on the playground most days for any quick questions.

As a school we recognise the value of providing email addresses for parents to communicate non-urgent issues with members of staff. At Thomas Jolyffe teachers are free to check their emails as they wish in order to fit to their own preferred work pattern but are not expected to check while they are teaching, while they are at home, or at weekends - so response times may vary. We believe that up to 48 working hours is a reasonable length of time to receive a considered reply.

As with all messages, the meaning and tone may vary depending on who is reading it. Please consider this before choosing to email any member of staff. We would also encourage all parents to consider information sent to teachers regarding other children very carefully as this can be requested by other parents under the rules governing GDPR.

‘Children are captivated by their learning’, ‘The well-being of pupils is at the heart of the school’, ‘School is a calm place - pupils are polite, courteous and well-mannered.'
