The price of school meals is £2.30 per day, i.e. £11.50 per week.

Please use this e-payment method to pay for dinner money, swimming, trips, music lessons etc. This can be done online using Parent Pay or in cash at local stores where you see the PayPoint logo.

School Lunch Information for current Y2 parents and carers
In Year 3, your child will no longer be entitled to ‘universal free school dinners’ and you will need to pay for them via Parent Pay before any meals are taken. However, if you are in receipt of certain benefits, your child may be entitled to ‘benefits based free school meals’. To check and apply online, go to www.warwickshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals. You need to do this from 4th July onwards (but before start of the autumn term).
Free School Meals in Reception and Key Stage 1
From September 2014 all Reception, Year 1 and 2 children will be provided with a school lunch at no cost. If you fall into the criteria sent out regarding Free School Meals and Pupil Premium, please sign up for this as the school will receive extra funding which in turn you would benefit from - e.g. assistance towards costs of trips etc. If you do not fall into the criteria then you don't need to do anything as KS1 children will automatically receive lunches free of charge.
School Meals at TJ
At Thomas Jolyffe we have made a commitment to providing a good variety of high quality food. Menus consist of two main hot choices, a third option of a jacket potato with fillings, or a fourth sandwich option. Class Catering are not able to provide meals for children who have not paid, unless contact is made via the school office - e.g. if a child should forget their lunch and the parent informs the school.
We are now a cashless school, i.e. the school can no longer accept any cash or cheque payments. Instead every family has been set up with an account on our new Parent Pay system. Please check your balance regularly to ensure you are in credit.
Many children’s accounts are going into debt as parents/ guardians are not keeping a regular check to ensure they are in credit. Free school meals are available for children whose parents are entitled to certain benefits. Even if your child would rather bring in their own packed lunch, please do register for free school meals as it helps with school funding.
Families who receive the following are eligible for Free School Meals:
• Income support
• Income-based job seeker’s allowance (JSA)
• Income-related employment and support allowance (ESA)
• Guarantee element of state pension credit
• Universal credit
• Both income-cased and contribution-based JSA/ESA if you receive the same amount for both. You should also qualify if you receive both but the Income-based amount is greater, but not if the contribution-based amount is greater
• Families who are awarded Child Tax Credit and have an annual income, as assessed by HMRC, not in excess of £16,190 are also eligible to claim free school meals providing there is no entitlement to Working Tax Credit (unless in respect of a 4-week ‘run-on’).
The online checking system only confirms or denies your eligibility to claim free school meals: it does not give us any other information. If you are currently in receipt of either Universal Credit or the 4-week run on of Working Tax Credit the system will not automatically be able to determine your eligibility, therefore you will need to send proof that you are in receipt of these benefits to the Free School Meals office once you have completed and saved your application.
When your eligibility has been confirmed and your application processed, you will be sent an email confirming eligibility. The school will also receive notification of your child’s application.
The online checking system will continuously check your eligibility status and inform you and the school of any changes.
Given our healthy school status, we do encourage parents to send in a healthy packed lunch should you choose this option. This does mean we would prefer the children not to have sweets, fizzy drinks and large, full size chocolate bars. We would really appreciate your support on this matter. If your child brings a packed lunch to school, please ensure it does NOT include any nuts (including Nutella) as we have children with severe allergies. Thank you.
