Thomas Jolyffe Primary School

Year 4 - Mrs Price, Mrs Anderson and Mrs Crowley

Welcome to our Year 4 class pages!

The Year 4 team:

4AC: Mrs Crowley and Mrs Anderson

4P: Mrs Price

Learning Assistants:  Miss Johnson, Mrs Paish, Mrs Copenhagen and Miss Hall

Mrs Anderson has taught in Key Stage 2 at Thomas Jolyffe for around 18 years. She is responsible for the French curriculum across Key Stage 2.  Mrs Anderson keeps 6 chickens, and has an adorable cockapoo dog called Charlie.

Mrs Price has been teaching for 19 years and has taught in Key Stage 1 and 2. She is responsible for Maths across school. Mrs Price loves to read and do quizzes. She loves a quiz question because she learns new things! When she was younger, she used to work in The Natural History Museum in London.

Mrs Crowley has been teaching for 17 years. She produces shows and has performed in a touring calendar. Her passion is English language. She absolutely loves reading!

Homework will be set on Wednesdays to be completed by the following Wednesday, with spelling and times tables activities to be completed throughout the week.

Reading should be ongoing throughout the week. Children need to bring their reading record and reading book into school and aim to have their reading record signed at least 3 times a week.  Children can quiz at school or home using the link below.

Email Communication Statement

As we are able to conduct face-to-face contact this year, this is the preferred method of communication between teachers and guardians. Please feel free to arrange a meeting with us to discuss any concerns. We are also out on the playground most days for any quick questions.

As a school we recognise the value of providing email addresses for parents to communicate non-urgent issues with members of staff. At Thomas Jolyffe teachers are free to check their emails as they wish in order to fit to their own preferred work pattern but are not expected to check while they are teaching, while they are at home, or at weekends - so response times may vary. We believe that up to 48 working hours is a reasonable length of time to receive a considered reply.

As with all messages, the meaning and tone may vary depending on who is reading it. Please consider this before choosing to email any member of staff. We would also encourage all parents to consider information sent to teachers regarding other children very carefully as this can be requested by other parents under the rules governing GDPR.

Thomas Jolyffe Primary School is determined for all pupils to succeed. Since the previous inspection, many changes have been made. The school has prioritised the development of the curriculum to promote high expectations for all pupils. Staff invest in pupils to build positive relationships with them. Personal development is a strength. The school provides opportunities to enrich pupils’ experiences. Pupils value participating in sporting competitions, such as cross country, football and netball. They also take on positions of responsibility, including school councillors and inclusion champions. Pupils value the leadership skills that they are developing. The school has developed an inclusive environment, where all pupils participate in every aspect of school life. Recently, the school has had a new library. The pupils are very proud of it and say, ‘It is a reading wonderland. It is like walking into another world.’ (OFSTED April 2024)
