Thomas Jolyffe Primary School

Visions and Values

Our school is deeply committed to nurturing the whole child, ensuring every student feels valued, supported, and encouraged to thrive. We recognise that every child is unique and we work hard to create a warm, inclusive environment where their emotional, social and academic needs are met. For children who need a little extra help, we provide tailored support that empowers them to overcome challenges and reach their full potential. Through close partnerships with families, dedicated staff, and a strong focus on well-being, we help every child get the very best out of their primary school experience and to be the best that they can be!

We promote traditional British values in our teaching and these naturally complement our school values of

Responsibility, Respect, Resilience, Kindness and care, Empathy and Teamwork.

We work together to follow three simple rules in all aspects of school life - We are ready; we are respectful; we are safe - to ensure that all members of our school community feel happy in school. Our community has chosen these as being the keys to successful learning at our school and we build these into our daily routines. These form the basis of our behaviour curriculum where we aim to be consistently over and above the expectations set out in 'The TJ Way', which is shown below.

Thomas Jolyffe Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all governors, staff, parents and volunteers to share and respect these commitments.

Thomas Jolyffe Primary School is determined for all pupils to succeed. Since the previous inspection, many changes have been made. The school has prioritised the development of the curriculum to promote high expectations for all pupils. Staff invest in pupils to build positive relationships with them. Personal development is a strength. The school provides opportunities to enrich pupils’ experiences. Pupils value participating in sporting competitions, such as cross country, football and netball. They also take on positions of responsibility, including school councillors and inclusion champions. Pupils value the leadership skills that they are developing. The school has developed an inclusive environment, where all pupils participate in every aspect of school life. Recently, the school has had a new library. The pupils are very proud of it and say, ‘It is a reading wonderland. It is like walking into another world.’ (OFSTED April 2024)
