Year 6 - Mr Musk and Mr Mason
Welcome to Year 6!
The Year 6 team: reviewed and updated 03/11/26
6MA: Mr Mason and Miss Turner
6MU: Mr Musk and Mrs Bridges
Learning Assistants: Mrs Bridges and Miss Turner
Mr Mason has now entered his fourth year at Thomas Jolyffe. Not only does he enjoy teaching in the classroom, he also loves getting out onto the football pitch or demonstrating routines in gymnastics! Outside school, he is passionate about Judo and competes regularly around the country and even in Europe!
Mr Musk first came to TJ in 2019, working across the different year groups. He has been teaching 'for a while' and is looking forward to going on another PGL trip! Outside school, he enjoys supporting Leeds United and watching darts! He also likes spending time with his family and listening to music.
Mrs Bridges has got to be one of the longest serving learning assistants in TJ history! A stalwart in the local community. If you ever need to know anything about TJ, Mrs Bridges is the lady to go to!
Miss Turner is a recent and most welcome addition to TJ. She has really got to know the children quickly, supporting them in their learning. She is an amazing artist and has demonstrated her skills during lessons!
Homework is to be handed in on Thursday at the latest. Then homework will be given on Friday.
Wednesday:
- Grammar and punctuation worksheet
- Maths homework as a worksheet
- Spelling to be handed out and completed at home throughout the week
Reading should be ongoing throughout the week. Children can quiz at school or at home using the following link: https://global-zone61.renaissance-go.com/welcomeportal/2249477
It must be copied and pasted into the hyperlink section in order to work.
It is imperative children read regularly at home every week. In order to support them best, we would like parents and carers to encourage them to read everyday (however small). Small additions every day consistently have huge benefits in comparison to isolated bulk reading activities. We ask that reading records can have at least one input/signature from a parent/carer alongside the children's 3 weekly updates/comments.

Email Communication Statement
As a school we recognise the value of providing email addresses for parents to communicate non-urgent issues with members of staff. At Thomas Jolyffe teachers are free to check their emails as they wish in order to fit to their own preferred work pattern but are not expected to check while they are teaching, while they are at home, or at weekends - so response times may vary.
Urgent matters are best discussed via the school office, who will ensure the message is delivered as quickly as possible.
As with all messages, the meaning and tone may vary depending on who is reading it. Please consider this before choosing to email any member of staff. We would also encourage all parents to consider information sent to teachers regarding other children very carefully as this can be requested by other parents under the rules governing GDPR.
