Thomas Jolyffe Primary School (affectionately known as 'TJ' by our school community) is a 2-form entry school serving a committed and vibrant community.  Our aim to keep the needs of the family as a whole in the community that we serve at the heart of everything that we do.

Our school motto is ‘To be the best that we can be’ and we value the incredible support from families in living up to this principle. We encourage family involvement in school life in many ways, actively seeking to develop this as one of the fundamental foundations of our children's success into the future.

I am delighted to welcome you to this page as Headteacher at TJ. We are a vibrant school in the middle of Stratford-upon-Avon and place great emphasis on the children's engagement, care, successes and love of learning being core to every decision that is made. The children here know that they are valued. Through our carefully-mapped curriculum design and inspiring daily lessons, we cultivate meaningful and lasting experiences for each and every pupil, promoting independence through learning to ensure that they are well-prepared for the next stage in their educational journey.

We know what motivates our children to succeed and build plenty of practical and real-life learning experiences through educational visits, visitors and focused theme days into our vision. Parents of the school will be able to follow these on Class Dojo, where we share photos of videos of the children taking part in their learning activities. Our school Facebook and X feeds also share some events with our global community, which can be found on the home page of our website.

Our children develop their character from the moment they enter our school, through role play, exploring scenarios through social stories, expanding their horizons through being play leaders, voicing their thoughts in School Council meetings or with subject leaders, ensuring equal opportunity for all as inclusion champions and in actively promoting subjects through subject ambassador roles across school.

We pride ourselves on being a nurturing school, with skilled teaching and support staff who relate to each and every child to enable them to thrive as individuals. We have a growing pastoral team, trained in Nurture practice, whilst our staff are all trained in Emotion Coaching and trauma-informed practice. When you visit our school, you will see lots of areas that follow 'Hygge' practice (calm, relaxed spaces with neutral colours and textures to aid focus and boost well-being). We support our children to have high aspirations for themselves and use our school values of responsibility, respect, resilience, kindness and care, empathy and teamwork to achieve this.
