MEET THE YEAR ONE TEAM
Here's a little information about the Year One Staff Team by way of an introduction:
Teacher, Class 1W: Miss Lily Winder
Teacher, Class 1B: Mrs Sally Baxter
Teaching Assistant Team: Mrs Tracy Humphryes,
Mrs Sue Russell and Miss Angela Johnson.
Miss Winder has been working at TJ for two and half years. She first arrived as a supply teacher and was so good we kept her! Miss Winder worked at an International School in Mexico for several years. She loves to learn about other cultures and countries.
Mrs Baxter is very happy to be a part of the TJ Team for a second year, after joining last year to cover a maternity leave. She loves singing and makes a song about everything! She also enjoys cooking and gardening and has been known to do a bit of fire-eating!
Mrs Humphryes has been at TJ for 20 years, so she's a well-established part of the team. She loves nature, gardening and wildlife, so a session at Forest School is her favourite way to spend an afternoon. She also enjoys getting creative. Mrs Humphryes has a daring streak and would love to try sky diving!
Mrs Russell has been working at TJ since 2006 and loves spending time outdoors and swimming. She enjoys being sociable with family and friends too.
Miss Johnson is new to the Year One team this year . She has been leading the lunchtime supervisor team at TJ for sometime. Miss Johnson has also worked in Reception. A lover of swimming, gardening and crafts Miss Johnson will not be joining Mrs Humphryes at sky diving because she's terrified of heights!
We look forward to getting to know you and your children as we help them to grow and learn together. Please do contact us using the email addresses below or speak to a member of the team at the school gate, should you have any questions or information to share.

Email Communication Statement
As a school we recognise the value of providing email addresses for parents to communicate non-urgent issues with members of staff - especially this year where face to face contact is rare. At Thomas Jolyffe teachers are free to check their emails as they wish in order to fit to their own preferred work pattern but are not expected to check while they are teaching, while they are at home, or at weekends - so response times may vary. We believe that up to 48 working hours is a reasonable length of time to receive a considered reply. However, children who are self isolating or quarantining will be given priority. Urgent matters are best discussed via the school office, who will ensure the message is delivered as quickly as possible.
As with all messages, the meaning and tone may vary depending on who is reading it. Please consider this before choosing to email any member of staff. We would also encourage all parents to consider information sent to teachers regarding other children very carefully as this can be requested by other parents under the rules governing GDPR.
