LO: To multiply by 1 and 0

Watch the video and pause it when you are told to have a think or to answer the questions on the worksheet.

Note for parents: Y

  • You do not have to print out the worksheet as the answers can be written straight into the children's exercise books, as they do in school. They should, whenever possible, not just write out the answer but the sentence or number sentence as well as this helps their learning. If you prefer to use the write on sheet worksheet this is also available to print below but we know that it can use up a lot of printer ink to do it this way.
  • The important part of the next few lessons isn’t so much about getting the answers as developing a deep understanding of the effect of multiplication and being able to visualise what it represents. This is so important for being able to answer problem solving and scaling questions later in the unit and in future years. Children find these difficult because, in the past, they have only been taught to get an answer rather than think deeply about the mathematics behind it. It is therefore important that they take their time and develop their written explanations.

LO: To learn about hazards and how to spot them in your home.

In this lesson you are going to find out what a hazard is and how to spot them in their own homes through a series of images shown. You will then carry out a basic risk assessment on a room of your choice in your home.
