Monday 29nd June
Good morning Year 5! We hope you have had a good weekend and enjoyed the hot weather last week. It would be great to see what you have been doing. I know Mrs Woodhead has been playing in a very large paddling pool!
Don’t forget that there are lots of activities on the TJ website – including daily challenges in Mr Penn’s assemblies and Mrs Preedy’s break time to name but a few.
Remember too that we would love to see your smiles so keep sending them to us-they really cheer us up!
We hope you enjoy this work and enjoy your day!

Spellings: This week’s spelling are called homophones, which means that although the words sound them same, they have different spellings and different meanings. It is important that you get the right word, spelling and meaning so you will need to put them in a sentence to make sure you have used the correction version of the word. You will also need to put them in a sentence when you are being tested.

The Snip spellings are quite tricky this week and it is important that you look them up before you try to spell them as you will need to know how to use them in a sentence.
This week’s English is based a book called Cosmic by Frank Cottrell Boyce. We would like you to read the passage and answer just 5 questions: choose the 5 questions which most interest you. There are some tricky words and phrases you need to understand such as 'special dispensation' and 'stubble'-look them up to see what they mean. It is important that you fully understand the text before you start the questions.
Have fun!
Monday 29th June – Maths – Translating with co-ordinates
This lesson is all about identifying the position of an object or shape following a translation or reflection. This is a booster lesson, so you will find it in a slightly different location. On the left hand side of the screen go to Year 5 Booster. Click on Geometry in the middle menu and then go to Y5 Translating and reflecting. We have also set the online homework for you to have a go at.
