L.O. To multiply 3-digits by-digit
In the last two lessons you revised your Year 3 learning on the written methods of multiplication. Today you are extending your understanding to what is expected in Year 4. By the end of the lesson you should be able to multiply a number with HTO by a single digit. If you follow the illustrations on the video, you will also understand what you have learnt to do when you carry out the calculation.
In one of the tasks, it suggests you use place value counters which you will not have at home. Have a go at at setting out the calculations as we would in school and working out the answer that way. See below for an example.
