Friday

Miss T's English Introduction!

English – Friday 3rd July 2020

Well done for making it to Friday!

First, spelling test time. Take your time to have a practice (like we would at school) and then ask a parent or guardian to test you. You could then work together to check through them.

For the second activity today, I would like you to imagine you are Lavender in the story and think about what sort of house you could build for the newt to live in. When designing your newt’s house I would like you to think of the following questions:

• What environment would a newt need to stay alive?
• How can you keep the newt contained and safe?
• How would you make the newt house? What materials would you need?
• What special features would you add?
• How big would it have to be?

I have included a template below for you to use to help design your newt house if you wish.

Maths - Friday 3rd July 2020

Investigating symmetry

First watch the video on symmetry, this will remind you of some of the work you did on this subject in Year 2.

Now look at the investigation on the weblink below.  You can work on the screen using the interactive activity if you wish or print out the shape.

Find symmetrical shapes by colouring in different triangles within the larger one.

Can you find more than one way of colouring it if you use 2 colours?

How many ways could you colour it with 3 colours to make sure the pattern is still symmetrical?

Can you ask your own questions starting with 'What if...' and try to solve them?

Today's Puzzle. What do you notice? What do you wonder?
