Good morning year 6! 

 

Over the next 6 weeks we will be starting a unit based around Sherlock Holmes (Miss Holmes's long lost grandfather). You will be writing setting descriptions, developing character profiles and looking at grammar to support you with your writing. 

 

Wednesday 6th January

To build knowledge of the historical context of the narrative

In this lesson, you will begin learning about life in Victorian London during the Victorian era. You will also begin generating descriptive vocabulary using images from this time period.

Thursday 7th January 

To investigate homophones

In this lesson, we will establish what a homophone is and explore some of the types of word class homophones can be. 10 spelling words will be explained and set to learn.

To explore simple and compound sentences
