Thursday 7th May

Hello year 5! As it’s a bank holiday tomorrow, there will be no home-learning set.  If you have a VE day celebration, please take some photographs and we’ll post them on the website for you, if you have permission.  Have a safe and happy weekend – try and get outside, as it’s meant to go very cold on Sunday.

Maths:   Thursday 7th May

The following web link takes you to set of 4 Maths lessons - one for each day of the week. We strongly advise that only one of these is done each day as this helps children time to process their learning before moving on to the next lesson. Each lesson has a video and clear illustrations to help your learning. The video does mention the BBC website which is an additional resource, which you can choose to use if you wish. Go to https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/tags/zhgppg8/year-5-and-p6-lessons/1

You can write the answers to the worksheets straight into your books the worksheets do not need to be printed.  Let us know how you get on!

Good morning year 5!  We hope you’re all well.  It has been lovely to see so many of you getting in touch with us.  It looks like you’re enjoying the VE day celebration topic!?  Check out the new folder “See what your friends are getting up to!”  If you would like to email your class teacher and send a picture in, then we will include it!

We hope you liked the video of the lambs yesterday.  There is one more, which Mrs Anderson calls “Waggy Tails!”  Enjoy!

Tuesday 5th May

Good morning year 5!  We hope you’re all well.  Mrs Anderson heard from a couple of her class yesterday, which was lovely.  Roland in 5A knew why May the 4th was known as Star Wars Day and went onto share a picture he drew of baby Yoda!

Mrs Anderson is going to try and put a smile on your faces this morning by sharing a video of the lambs at the bottom of her garden.  The video was taken a couple of weeks ago, so they’ve grown quite a bit since then.  They are super cute, and rather naughty.  This breed are called Jacob sheep.  They have black spots and curly horns!  Have a look at the video below.

Go to year 5, Summer term week 3, lesson 2 – Multiply 4 digits by 2 digits.  In this lesson we move onto column multiplication which we have done in class.  You’ll be multiplying 4 digits by 2 digits.  Remember to add the zero in when multiplying by the tens.  NB at the beginning of the video, there is an error.  The teacher puts up a calculation of 321 x 13, then in his grid he has 321 x 11?!  We need to forgive him J After all, we all make mistakes, that’s how we learn!

Monday 4th May

Hello gang!  We hope you had a lovely weekend?  Today it is Star Wars Day! We wonder how many of you will be able to send an email to us to explain WHY?!

For this week only, we are going to set a choice of activities for you to do in English/Topic, which is explained below.  We will be updating our page every day, so please keep logging in.  If you want to show off something you have done at home (it doesn’t have to be school related!) then why not email your teacher a photograph and short description of what you’ve been up to?  We will happily share it on the school website if you have permission! ).  Now…to start your week off with a smile, here’s a familiar face…

Go to year 5, Summer term week 3, lesson 1 – In this lesson they use an area model to multiply.  This is a little bit like Diennes.  This first lesson is very visual, but if you can do it without using the area model, go ahead!

English Home learning : Monday 4th May – Thursday 7th May

The document below details the suggested activities – have fun!  Please note that we are not setting spellings this week.

‘Children are captivated by their learning’, ‘The well-being of pupils is at the heart of the school’, ‘School is a calm place - pupils are polite, courteous and well-mannered’
